NCAA Football: Tennessee vs. Florida

The Tennessee Volunteers will welcome the Florida Gators to Neyland Stadium on Saturday, December 5. Tennessee started off the 2020 season strong, defeating South Carolina 31-27 and Missouri 35-12.

This is not to say they had it easy. At the beginning of September, 44 players were out of the game and the team’s scrimmage matches had to be cancelled. Most of these players were taken out when they tested positive for coronavirus or came in contact with individuals who had tested positive. A few other players were also out with injuries.

Since these two early wins, Tennessee has fallen off and lost their four subsequent matches. This has put Tennessee fifth in the SEC East.

Florida will prove to be a tough opponent for Tennessee. They have gone 5-1 in their first six matches this season, bested only by Texas A&M in a narrow three-point victory. Florida sits in first in the SEC East, and is also currently ranked 6th in the CFP.

Their success so far is surprising because Florida has been dealing with a coronavirus outbreak on its team since the season began. In October, 37 tests came back positive, including that of head coach Dan Mullen.

Tennessee vs. Florida betting odds are live on PowerPlay.com. In the last month, Tennessee has not had any more COVID-19 cases. If they continue to stay healthy, they may become a stronger force in the last few games of the season.

Florida had to cease practices and cancelled games due to the spike in cases following their road game to Texas A&M. Despite these setbacks, Florida is proving to still be a powerhouse team. They also have not had any new positive cases among the athletes and coaching staff recently, so this could help improve their performance even further.

Florida is the better choice to put money on despite their ongoing struggles to rid the team of coronavirus since they have done well this season and are typically one of the top performing teams in the CFP. Both teams will play their final games of the regular season the following week. The Tennessee Volunteers will remain at home at host Texas A&M, the second best in the SEC West but also struggling to control a COVID-19 outbreak. Florida will return to home turf to take on SEC West sixth-place holder LSU. The action will go down on Saturday, December 12.
