NCAA: Virginia vs. Louisville

The Virginia Cavaliers will take on the Louisville Cardinals on Saturday, March 6. This showdown was originally scheduled for early February, but had to be postponed after the Louisville head coach tested positive and it was determined that additional players and team staff would need to quarantine following contact tracing.

Louisville hasn’t played a game since February 1, and had all their matches through to February 18 postponed. This comes after an 18-day stretch of postponed team activities Louisville went through in December due to positive tests on the team. I

n total, Louisville has only played 15 games so far, and although their 11-4 overall record isn’t a complete washout compared to other ACC teams, the recurring outbreaks on the team does not bode well as Louisville heads into the final stretch of the regular season.

Virginia has fared much better this season, going 15-4 overall and 11-2 in the conference to lead the ACC and claim the No. 9 spot in the league. They most recently suffered a tough 81-60 loss to Florida State, which ended Virginia’s four-game winning streak.

Virginia’s only other conference loss was to state rival Virginia Tech that ended 65-51 at the end of January.

Virginia vs. Louisville betting lines are available on PowerPlay. Virginia will be coming off a home game against Miami FL, who is the second worst team in the ACC, which means Virginia will likely also be coming off a win.

Virginia’s last match of the regular season is scheduled to be this game against Louisville, and Virginia will definitely be looking to further cement their high position in the NCAA standings ahead of Selection Sunday.

Louisville will only have two nights off after their match with Virginia Tech to prepare to host Virginia. At the time of writing, this Virginia-Louisville match is scheduled to also be Louisville’s final regular season game, but we will see if Louisville needs to reschedule more games between now and then.

Virginia vs. Louisville betting odds can be found on PowerPlay. Louisville has struggled to keep coronavirus off their team, and though their overall record is still pretty good given the amount of games they’ve had to postpone, Virginia has had significantly more court time to polish up their plays and is the more likely victor of this upcoming match. A Virginia vs. Louisville full prediction can also be found here.

As stated earlier, this is scheduled to be both Virginia and Louisville’s final regular season games. Both teams are safely within the top 68 — Virginia at No. 9 and Louisville at No. 33 — so we will very likely see both of these teams in the 2021 March Madness. The First Four action will kick off on Thursday, March 18.
